   ABOUT IBN

The Islamic Broadcasting Network, IBN is the first Islamic network broadcasting daily in the United States. IBN was launched on January 1, 2001, as has been established as the prime media outlet for the American Muslim community in the USA. IBN is an affiliate of the Islamic Media Foundation, a national non-profit organization based in the Washington DC area. Click here for information about IBN staff.

   MISSION

The main mission of IBN is to share the guidance of Allah through broadcast media and the internet, to encourage the right and discourage the wrong, and to provide the American Muslim community with programming that will cater towards their needs.

   GOALS

We aim to promote Islam and Muslim efforts in America, stress our contribution to the well being of this society, as well as to present our views on current events, and thus strengthen our own bonds and pride in our Islamic identity. Through our broadcast, we also endeavor to clarify and correct stereotypes and any inaccurate portrayals of our values and religion to our American neighbors.

   IBN'S TARGET AUDIENCE

IBN realizes the importance of the younger generations. The Muslim youth and young adults are considered the target of our broadcast. Meeting the needs of young, vibrant minds who are truly the leaders of tomorrow is the most crucial goal of IBN. Addressing young mothers and fathers, teens and students, is in actuality addressing our future. Providing programming that American Muslims can relate to is our mission.

   IBN PROGRAMMING

IBN programming is tailored to the interests and needs of our American Muslim target audience. A thorough research and study provided the guidelines for a successful and useful programming scheme. Our programs strike the needed balance between religious and contemporary programming, adapting a new and unique approach to Islamic media. From youth issues to family matters, from legal advice to health tips, from Islamic perspectives on political matters and current affairs, to Quran and Seerah and how they are relevant to us today. Muslim world news and national news, as well as Islamic da’wah and community affairs all have a regular place in IBN programming. IBN hosts are competent in their fields, and eloquent in their communication of ideas. They are mostly young, American-born Muslims, providing a realistic and practical approach to their programs. IBN programming has something for everyone.

   IBN: THE NEAR FUTURE . . .

By the will of Allah, IBN will extend its broadcast to the world of television, and in major cities through Public Access Television, giving IBN a larger viewing audience, and the opportunity to be more creative and effective in our presentations. We hope that IBN will be in the near future, inshaa Allah, the major source of news, Islamic knowledge, daa’wah, information, open discussion, and entertainment for all American Muslims, and Muslims worldwide.

IBN is also committed to increase its broadcast hours gradually inshaa Allah to include all afternoon and evening, via live internet broadcast, to be seen coast to coast.

   DA'WAH IS OUR MISSION

In describing the Muslim nation Allah—Glory Be to Him—says, “You were the best of nations brought out to humanity enjoining that which is good and forbidding that which is evil and believing in Allah.” The fulfillment of the status of best nation comes only when we take wholeheartedly our religious duty of da’wah to invite others and spread the word of Islam. Allah calls upon us saying: “Invite all to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful exhortation.” What form of invitation can have more wisdom and be more beautiful, and reach the widest range of masses, than the broadcast media in its different outlets—radio, TV, and the Internet?

Our duty as Muslims is to spread the message of Islam, share the guidance of Allah, and try to bring society together in an environment filled with morality, piety, and consciousness of Allah, in hope of changing the world to the better. Perhaps we don’t have a direct means of changing the world around us with our hands, but we definitely can change it with our words and beliefs.

Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed us with the means and the tools for making this da’wah effort successful, insha’ Allah. The resources are available, the people are ready, and the work can progress. It’s only with the blessing of Allah, then your support, that we can make our da’wah mission and goals a reality. And remember, Allah promised those who support good deeds with great rewards and blessings, both in this life and in the hereafter.

Allah says “We made of you a nation justly balanced, that you may be witnesses over mankind, and the messenger a witness over you.” How can we be witnesses over people if we have not spread the word of Allah to society at large, and if we have not lived up to this crucial duty of da’wah and obedience? And, those of us who do not have the necessary means to personally make da’wah can still support those who are able, and it will insha’ Allah be rewarded generously by Allah.

Let’s all take advantage of the unique opportunity we have in America, using the broadcast media and the Internet to fulfill our duty of inviting others, to better understand Islam and spread righteousness. First and foremost, we need your du’aa, or supplication, that Allah bless this effort and give it success. Give from your wealth, knowing that Allah will multiply it for you. And give from your time and advice to make this work fruitful. May Allah bless us all and reward us with plenty, and give us the strength and ability to spread His word, and share His guidance with all humankind, as it was meant to be.
